Smash It Up
24.Outro

FINAL DAMNATION 50 tour is the culmination of their 50th anniversary. A triumphant release capturing a magnificent night that traces the history of Gothic and Punk, delivered with astonishing high-quality sound that rivals a stereo soundboard recording!

This release features a complete recording of The Damned's concert at Toyosu PIT in Tokyo on September 19, 2026—part of their "Final Damnation 50" world tour marking the monumental milestone of their 50th anniversary. Produced by the renowned XAVEL label, this recording utilizes a multi-source stereo IEM matrix technique; while XAVEL previously released an excellent title for the band's 2017 Japan tour, this new release offers an overwhelming sound quality that surpasses even that earlier effort.

Appearing before a packed house was a "dream lineup" that brought tears of joy to fans' eyes: frontman Dave Vanian, eternal punk icon Captain Sensible, the long-awaited returning Rat Scabies, and Paul Gray—who anchored the band during the era of the masterpiece *The Black Album*. With a heartfelt tribute to founding member Brian James (who passed away in 2025) held close to their hearts, the band unfolded a true "Damned Spectacle" at Toyosu PIT, distilling fifty years of history into a single performance.

The show opened with the classic track "Street of Dreams." Dave Vanian’s rich, velvety bass-baritone voice enveloped the vast space of Toyosu PIT, instantly drawing the audience into The Damned's signature dark and elegant world. The subsequent sequence of "Wake the Dead" and "The History of the World (Part 1)" played out like a historical tapestry, unfolding the story of their fifty-year journey. With Love covers like "Alone Again Or" and "Shadow of Love" placed in the middle of the set, Paul Gray’s undulating basslines and Rat Scabies’ dynamic drumming created an exquisite groove. It was a powerful reminder that their musical depth extends far beyond the high-speed intensity of early punk.

Naturally, the floor erupted in a massive singalong during the classic "I Just Can't Be Happy Today" and the superb pop track "Eloise" (originally by Barry Ryan).
Beyond Captain Sensible’s sharp guitar riffs and charming stage presence, the perfect interplay between Paul Gray’s bold, melodic bass and Rat Scabies’ raw yet precise drumming showcased a mature, polished band sound—a performance truly worthy of the tour title "FINAL DAMNATION 50."

As the show neared its climax, a relentless barrage of punk anthems—"Love Song," "Machine Gun Etiquette," and "Neat Neat Neat"—sent the Toyosu PIT floor into a frenzy. The main set concluded amidst a massive mosh pit and thunderous cheers.
Then came the encore. After the atmosphere shifted to something majestic with the epic "Curtain Call," the unmistakable sound of Rat Scabies’ drum intro rang out. The moment Dave delivered that legendary count-in—"Is she really going out with him?"—they launched straight into "New Rose," the landmark punk single that made history upon its release in 1976. That moment when a frenzied mosh pit erupted and the history of punk began was perfectly recreated at Toyosu PIT in 2026.

After a cover of Jefferson Airplane’s "White Rabbit," the show concluded with the legendary anthem "Smash It Up"! The performance surged from the Captain's fluid intro into a high-speed blast, sending the entire venue into a state of ecstatic frenzy and bringing the Tokyo leg of "FINAL DAMNATION 50" to a perfect close.

The included DVD features must-see original footage capturing the entire concert from an audience perspective, offering excellent stability and a clear, unobstructed view. It is a meticulously crafted release that utilizes the same high-quality multi-stereo IEM matrix audio source found on the CD.

Experience this historic night in superb audio quality—a performance that perfectly recreated the golden aesthetic of "Gothic Rock" and "Psychedelia," transcending the boundaries of punk established by their garage-punk roots.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1009/0846/6475/files/1_a2378dad-928c-4a03-9b9f-4adb359ee9ef.webp?v=1791382302
https://wmlshopjapan.com/products/the-damned-bay-city-damned-land-final-damnation-50-live-in-tokyo-2026-2cdr-1dvdr
