The 1990s were, in a sense, a period of uncertainty for Glenn; although he was active and regularly releasing solo albums, he hadn't achieved the same level of impact he had with Deep Purple and was engaging in various collaborations with other musicians. When he finally realized his long-held dream of touring Japan as a solo artist, the venues were intimate—holding only about 500 people (standing room). At this Sapporo show, the audience was clearly there for the Deep Purple-era songs, which generated tremendous excitement; conversely, there was a somewhat poignant, almost painful quality to watching Glenn give his all on the other tracks while the crowd's enthusiasm waned. However, listening back now, Glenn Hughes’s talent as a vocalist and his musicianship are undeniable—it is a succession of superb performances that makes this an incredibly enjoyable release for fans of rock musicians touring Japan. The audio is an audience recording; while it reflects the era's limitations, it offers excellent immediacy and impact. Despite some inherent roughness, the sound quality is consistently high, allowing for a thoroughly enjoyable listening experience.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"PHOENIX","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":67709712400683,"sku":null,"price":54.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/1009\/0846\/6475\/files\/1_7587d9f5-9099-4956-9cad-03e1b25279ed.jpg?v=1791762626","url":"https:\/\/wmlshopjapan.com\/ja\/products\/glenn-hughes-addiction-japan-tour-1997-pennylane-24-2cdr","provider":"WML Shop","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
