This is a live recording from January 23, 1988, in Birmingham, England, as part of the world tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of their debut. The tour kicked off with Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits serving as the supporting guitarist. They performed in Japan in October of that year to great acclaim. Given that it was an anniversary tour, Eric Clapton was in high spirits, making for a truly excellent performance. Above all, with highlights like guitar battles with Mark Knopfler, it’s an incredibly lavish live show. Although official footage has been released, this recording includes tracks not featured in the official release: “Run,” “Holy Mother,” “Let It Rain,” “Edge of Darkness,” “Behind the Mask,” and “Further On Up the Road.” The passionate rendition of “Further On Up the Road” is particularly impressive. The sound quality appears to have been remastered, emphasizing clarity and allowing you to fully enjoy this high-energy, fantastic concert without any sense of instability.
